- 130=5w+45
- 130=cost of one course; w=weeks; 5=amount saved per week
Currently, I have $45 in my savings. I want to take a Web design class that costs $130. In order to have enough money to take a Web design class, I need to save $5 per week for 17 weeks. The equation I used to figure this out was 130=5w+45. The 130 represents the amount of money I need, the 5 represents the rate at which I am able to save, the w represents the number of weeks, and the 45 represents the amount I already have saved. At a rate of five dollars per week with $45 already saved, it will take me 17 weeks to save $130.
Over the next few weeks, I need to save $5 each day. Therefore, I will have to budget my spendings. I must restrain for buying anything that is unnecessary and carefully distribute my money among essentials. In order to discourage the temptation of spending, I will lay aside 5 dollars at the beginning of each week for my savings without waiting until the end of the week.
